New, super slim LTMC fibre-optic cables

TKF, cable manufacturer from the Netherlands, has introduced the new mini cable LTMC-S PA 288x SM and LTMC-S PA 576x SM with a very small cable-diameter.

The cables are extremely suitable for Access or FTTx, where high fibre-count cables in smallest tube-diameter are required. The Loose Tube Mini Cable ‘Slim’ Polyamide (LTMC-S PA) is a non-metallic, longitudinal water-protected fibre optic cable, with smallest possible outer diameter and optimized fibre density.

Until today, TKF’s mini cable portfolio ranged up to 288 fibres, in a single-layer design, with a cable-diameter (LTMC-S 288x SM) of 10,0 mm. The new, super slim cable, based on ultra-thin sized tubes of new raw-materials in a double-layer design, the diameter is considerably smaller: 8,1 mm (about 20% down in size!). TKF also introduced a new LTMC cable with a capacity of 576 fibers (LTMC-S PA 576x SM) which cable-diameter is only 10,3 mm.

In combination with its low-friction polyamide (PA) sheath, low weight and reduced diameter, these cables are the perfect solution for situations where blowing of mini-cable over long distances in shortest possible time slot is needed. Cable has an optimized blowing performance and with a higher fibre density improves the utilization rate of the micro duct.

New LTMC-S PA 288x SM is designed for air blown installation in micro ducts of 14/10, 16/12, or larger, and the LTMC-S PA 576x SM 16/12, 20/15 or larger. This development is a real break-through in the miniaturization process of mini cables.
